Education And Knowledge Makes You Safer To Age In Place
Do you ever hear stories from friends or family about how they knew they should have done something, figured it can wait, and then suddenly an accident happens and they wish they had followed through. I hear these stories quite often but wish I didn’t. It is usually from someone recovering from surgery or rehab after a fall they have taken.
I spend quite a bit of time taking webinars to learn about the newest technologies and accessories available for my clients. I feel it is worth spending that time, especially if one of these webinars helps me with any client remaining safer.
Spending my time educating others through presentations is very important to me. Last month I gave a presentation to The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources, A Program of Children’s Aid and Family Services, on Aging In Place. It was quite interesting, and I loved the questions the seniors on the call asked. You can watch the presentation here.
Then I presented to the Professional Aging Network on Smart Technology. Many of the professionals on the call are with assisted living facilities, or others working with seniors. It was fun teaching them about the technologies available and how they can make the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities safer, healthier, and more comfortable. Here is the link for this presentation.
Most recently, I presented a combination of Aging In Place and Smart technology to a home health care agency. Educating them on all the newest technologies available is always great. They are the front line to making sure that their clients stay safe, so it is important for them to be on top of their game.
